The Technology and Information Management Command is responsible for collecting and reporting crime and traffic data, and for installing and maintaining the electronic communication systems used by all Troopers. It also implements and supports the MSPD Department's and the public’s enterprise-level State information technology systems, provides Statewide National Crime Information Center (NCIC) oversight, and oversees communication systems training.
The Command is comprised of four divisions:
Central Records,
Electronic Services,
Information Technology, and
Police Communications
The Division state’s central repository for the collection, analysis, and distribution of motor vehicle crash reports and crime statistics They manage the distribution of traffic accident and crime statistics and to provide copies of documents maintained in the repository to legally-entitled entities. The Central Records Division is responsible for providing:
The Electronic Services Division (ESD) s responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of multiple electronic systems utilized within the MDSP. These systems include radio communications, patrol vehicle mobile computers, in-car cameras, body-worn cameras, and speed control devices. In addition to servicing these systems, ESD provides technical assistance to allied partners across the state and along its borders.
The Information Technology Division (ITD) builds, implements, and maintains enterprise-level technology systems that support law enforcement operations. ITD serves Troopers, investigators, support personnel, partner agencies, and the public by providing secure, reliable infrastructure, communications, and systems while ensuring compliance and advancing technology to improve efficiency and interoperability.
The Police Communications Support Division (PCSD) supports law enforcement across Maryland. It manages NCIC access, trains Maryland State Police staff and allied agencies, and provides security at Headquarters.
