State Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Prince George’s County
(UPPER MARLBORO, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Prince George’s County.
The deceased is identified as Brenda Godbolt, 61, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She was pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency medical service personnel. Godbolt was the driver and sole occupant of a Mazda 3 involved in the crash.
The injured driver of a Chevrolet Silverado involved in the crash is identified as Ronald Spangler, Jr., 30, of Glen Burnie. He refused medical treatment on the scene.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., troopers from the College Park Barrack responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Route 301 at Village Drive. The preliminary investigation indicates the Silverado was traveling northbound on Route 301 approaching a traffic signal when police believe the Mazda entered the intersection crossing into the path of oncoming traffic.
Lanes were closed for approximately five hours. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration responded to the scene to assist with lane closures and detours.
The results of the investigation will be presented to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County for review. The Maryland State Police Crash Team leads the active and ongoing investigation.
