Helicopter Services
Maryland State Police operates seven helicopter sections. They are strategically located across Maryland to provide 24/7 medical transport, search and rescue, and law enforcement support.
Helicopter sections
The Baltimore section (Trooper 1) is the original section and offers medical transport, search and rescue, and law enforcement support across the Baltimore region.
Trooper 1 operates from the Martin State Airport, 3023 Strawberry Point Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21220.
The Washington section (Trooper 2) works closely with military partners and responds to medevac requests and supports law enforcement missions in Prince George’s, Calvert and Northern Charles County.
Trooper 2 operates out of their own hanger at Joint Base Andrews, 3500 Forestville Road, Forestville, Maryland 20747.
The Frederick section (Trooper 3) undertakes medevac, rescue, law enforcement support and at times support for Camp David activities. Trooper 3 typically completes more hoist rescues than any other individual section.
They operates out of the Frederick Municipal Airport, 461 Aviation Way, Frederick, Maryland 21701.
The Salisbury section covers the lower four counties of Maryland's eastern shore, and backup to the upper eastern shore of Maryland, as well as operations in lower Delaware and the eastern shore of Virginia.
They operate out of the Salisbury Airport, 5286 Leer Jet Way, Salisbury, Maryland 21804.
The Cumberland section (Trooper 5) is responsible for responding to Allegany County, Western Maryland, West Virginia, and southwestern Pennsylvania. This area cover some of the most unique terrain in the MSPAC coverage area.
Trooper 5 is the only Maryland State Police unit permanently stationed outside of Maryland. They operate out of the Cumberland Regional Airport, Route 1, Box 100, Wiley Ford, West Virginia 26767.
The Easton section serves Maryland’s eastern shore, primarily Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, and Anne Arundel counties. They respond to rural emergencies, water rescues, and support local law enforcement.
Trooper 6 operates out of the Easton Airport, 9385 Jet Lane, Easton, Maryland 21601.
The Southern Maryland section handles rescues over land and water, including hoist operations from cruise ships in the Chesapeake Bay. Recently Trooper 7 had the highest call volume in the MSPAC.
